Imagine your thrill as you reach heights of 70' and speeds to 40 mph, with ziplines up to 1,100' long! Fast, fun, and exhilarating, the Adventures Zipline Tour was designed to thrill first-time zippers, as well as the most experienced zipline enthusiasts. The Adventure Zipline Utah, located in Provo Canyon Utah, may be the only tree-top canopy tour located for hundreds of miles. Best of all, it is located a short seven or eight minutes from the Provo and Orem metro centers. A canopy zipline tour means you ride from zipline to zipline as you slide down the hill. Canopy tours are common throughout the world and attract riders because of their speed, variety, and views. Nine certified guides assist riders as they move from platform to platform to keep everyone safe and the line moving. These guides also provide the training required before riders are allowed to mount the ziplines. Provided gear includes a harness, helmet, and a breaking glove. Certified Zipline Guides
Qualified, Certified Tour Guides
Each guide must complete 30 hours of Association for Challenge Course Technology training before being certified to take participants on the lines. These Zipline certified guides are responsible for the safety and enjoyment of riders. All participates are initially trained on riding and breaking safety as well the rules of the wire. After completing the initial training, participants are driven up to the first launch pad. This is the shortest line in the whole tour and you are allowed to go twice to get comfortable before moving on. Each rider then rides three more lines down the mountain, which includes greater speeds, longer ziplines, and more stunning views. A Family Project
Owners Steve and Connie Ault purchased 1250 acres of land in Provo Canyon in 1984, naming it Bear Canyon Ranch. The family's ranch follows the east bank of the Provo River for a few miles and rises steeply 3,000 feet into the mountains above. An Idea is Forged For most of their ownership, the Bear Canyon Ranch has been a popular gathering spot for the Ault family and their friends to camp, ride horses, and snowmobile. However, after enjoying more than a dozen zip-line canopy tours in the Caribbean and South America while vacationing they decided that Utah needed a canopy tour zipline attraction of it own. They decided what better place than the mountain they knew and loved. Extensive planning was begun. Preserving the Natural Habitat In April of 2011, after receiving numerous permits, work on the Adventure Zipline Utah course began in earnest. Great care was taken to protect mature trees and to maintain the pristine environment of their beloved mountainside. As a result, Zipline routes and access roads were meticulously placed to avoid any disturbance to the natural landscape. How Did They Do It? With a bow and arrow. From high up the hill above the Provo River, the family used a powerful bow to shoot an arrow, which was tied to a string, in the direction of the planned Zipline route. The string was attached to mule tape which was tied to a Zip Line. This line was then dragged by an ATV through a pulley to the endpoint tree. After being attached between the trees, friends from Rocky Mountain Power performed numerous tests to ensure the weight and size limits as well as the stability and security of the cable lines. Safety First The finishing touches were completed by setting the perfect sag, or belly, of each cable and verifying that the percentage of slope in relation to the length was properly adjusted. A dynamometer is still regularly used to check the cable tension and ensure the safety of riders. All equipment is in compliance with the Association for Challenge Course Technology standards. All MAX Ziplines are dual lines and there has never been a catastrophic accident where two lines were involved. |
