Heber Valley Railroad - Provo Canyon Utah
Built in 1899, The Heber Valley Historic Railroad served the pioneers who first settled Heber Valley. It now operates as non-profit organization pulling vintage coaches over this scenic vistas. Pulling power is alternately provided by one of two 1907 Baldwin steam locomotives or one of the three vintage diesel electric locomotives.
Upon boarding the train at the Train Depot at 450 S. 600 W. in Heber, you will wind 16 miles through Heber Valley, then along the west side Deer Creek Reservoir, before entering Provo Canyon Real Estate on a train composed of restored 1920s era rail cars. Upon arrival at Vivian Park, you will retrace your route back to the Train Depot. You will enjoy breathtaking scenery whether you ride in the spring, summer, winter, or fall. Keep a sharp eye out for deer, elk, eagles, or other wild animals along the route.
Heber Valley Railroad has been featured in a number of motion pictures and was included on TV episodes of "Touched by an Angel" and "Promised Land" as they were being filmed in Utah. To add even more entertainment value, the Heber Valley Railroad purchased the "Movie Train" in 1999. This Steam engine and ten railroad cars have been featured in 33 motion pictures over the past 20 years.

Departing from the The Heber Valley Railroad Station, you'll wind around the shores of Deer Creek Reservoir then travel along the banks of the beautiful Provo River to Vivian Park. You'll enjoy a twenty-minute layover at the park to stretch your legs before returning to the Heber Depot.

Put on your robes and grab your wand and come and ride the Wizard's Train. It departs at 7 pm and includes a 90 minute round trip to Decker Bay. Costumed staff of popular characters will entertain you on board. Your ride includes getting sorted by the Sorting Hat, a chocolate frog, taking a chance with Bertie Botts Everyflavor Beans, and Butter Beer (non-alcoholic). Climb aboard for the Lakeside Limited, a relaxing ride along the shores of Deer Creek Reservoir and the base of majestic Mt. Timpanogos. This “over the river and through the woods” provides a spectacular view of Heber Valley’s breathtaking winter scenery.
